Have you ever heard of Patz & Hall Winery? For over three decades Patz & Hall, located on Eight Street in Sonoma, has been seeking out the very best small, family-owned Chardonnay & Pinot Noir vineyards in California and establishing long-term relationships with the talented winegrowers who farm these world-class sites. We (myself and this lovely group) had the pleasure to visit them during a gorgeous Sunday in July for a perfect summertime experience!! James Hall, the founder and winemaker, guided us through the property, explained the wine making process, and hosted us for a wine tasting paired with lunch at the renovated Garden House, which can comfortably host up to 30 people.
Emily Martin put another great event together, and I am so grateful to have been included. It was so much fun spending the afternoon with all these amazing people!!
Before our lunch, we had a wine tasting in the Garden Salon guided by the winemaker James Hall with two Chardonnays from Carneros & Russian River followed by two excellent Pinot Noirs from the Sonoma Coast. All are spectacular wines with affordable prices between $65 and $85 per bottle.
Now, I will share about our delicious family style lunch: spice rubbed chicken breast served with arugula, citrus dressing, lemon confit, and a perfect pairing with a 2016 Dutton Ranch Chardonnay from Russian River Valley. For those who love steak as much as I do, we also enjoyed cocoa rubbed prime hanger steak served with a Demi-Glace Sauce paired beautifully with a 2016 Sonoma Coast Pinot Noir. Yummy!!
After all these goodies, we had some sweets to make our afternoon even better!! Some dark chocolate strawberries and a big selection of artisan french macaroons!!
